XX September Square
XX September Square is located in the street of the same name, easily recognisable by its tall palm trees. Its beauty is enhanced by the former convent and Church of San Domenico behind it. The square represents a meeting point between the ancient medieval village and the present-day town. Its name refers to 20 September 1870, the date of the taking of Rome.
On 26/03/2013, work began on stripping the pavement of the square so that an underground car park could be built in this area.
During the aforementioned work, the remains of an ancient city tower and other stone artefacts were intercepted along the project routes. The archaeologists carried out a thorough cleaning of these walls, making it possible to enjoy this heritage.
